A tooth supported fixed bridge replaces missing teeth. It requires preparation of teeth on either side of the missing tooth to crown them. The false teeth, called pontics, are attached to the crowns and the crowns are cemented into place. A fixed bridge is a good option for missing teeth because it does not need to be removed to clean it and it stays in place more reliably than a partial denture.
